Some time ago the world round geek a rumor about the possible launch of a smartphone by Facebook. Today this rumor again jump into the fray due to a new report which talks about a possible association of Facebook with the manufacturer HTC to develop their own phone.

This is what we read in Bloomberg:

"Facebook Inc., owner of the largest social network in the world, is working with HTC Corp. to develop its own smartphone, which would launch in mid-2013, according to sources with knowledge of the matter.

The company intended to release the device later this year, but eventually retreated far to give more time to work on other HTC products. Facebook is also developing an operating system modified for the device and have assembled a team of Apple developers to improve their iPhone application. "

So far only rumors, but the truth is that when media as important as Bloomberg echoed the news these rumors start to gain further strength.

So if all these rumors come true in the coming months we could see phone companies so strong as Facebook, Amazon or Firefox. Stiff competition for the iPhone 5 .
