Mobile computing is the future. We know that is in the mind of Google (the last month had his glasses Glass Project), and today we saw that Apple is interested in this technology.
The Cupertino have filed a patent for a similar project to Project Glass this week. As we can see in the picture, it is a device that mounts a digital display on the head.
The New York Times points to a patent application discovered by PatentlyApple. The paper is entitled "Increasing the screen resolution increased with mechanical drive," and describes a method for increasing the density of pixels in a head-mounted display.
Before you rush to say that Apple is preparing a competitor to Google's Glass Project, we highlight some aspects. The first is that this is not a design patent, so Apple would not necessarily use this design for a real device. And the second is that the application of this technology could be used for other types of devices such as televisions or computer monitors.
But if we combine this invention with some of the others we've seen in recent years, it certainly seems that Apple is interested in doing some kind of portable computing device. Earlier this month Apple got another patent called "Peripheral for the treatment of head mounted displays." And a few years ago, a presentation similar to Google's glasses.
The question we ask is, what is this device?
