These days I come counting the numerous leaks of documents being produced in the trial between Samsung and Apple. We saw the first prototypes of iPhone , and Samsung yesterday as saying that the iPhone was based on a design by Sony . Well, today Apple has submitted a proposal to the court of the United States which takes the case and, surprise, is that Samsung is in agreement with this proposal.
Both companies have to present a large amount of internal documents as evidence at trial, scheduled for Monday, and both companies want to keep their internal data as private. Two industry leaders have today's high technology jointly submit proposed documents will be public, and have kept the possibility of some that may contain highly sensitive information to the company. As reported by AllThingsD:
"Although the parties have not reached a final agreement that would eliminate the need for proof that contain highly sensitive information, both Samsung and Apple have agreed to negotiate in good faith to minimize the need for maintaining the confidentiality of evidence and ensure that the judgment remains an open forum. "
Today's presentation by Apple argues that the company had reduced the amount of private documents and only four reports about 30 specific documents. In total there have been hundreds, so this is a small amount of the total. Apple argued that if these documents were made public could damage Apple's reputation with business partners who are investigating the company. In addition, Apple argued, competitors would have access to valuable information from Apple, as the cost structure and profit margins, which does not wish to share.
Samsung, meanwhile, has a similar system of confidential information you would like to keep private, so it makes sense that, together with other companies apparently involved in the documentation as Microsoft, Qualcomm and Intel, wish to cooperate with Apple on this joint proposal . It's a sort of quid pro quo agreement, that if Apple wants to maintain their own private files from prying eyes of journalists, then you will need to support Samsung claims to it.
Sure you continue to see new data that you call the most important patent case in recent history. We will keep you informed.
