A study conducted by the firm Distimo reveals the success that has had the App Store in 2011 compared with other competitors in the U.S.. The Amazon app store, Android, Blackberry, Windows and Nokia have not been able to dethrone Apple's top spot, who reigned for years and it succeeds with its IOS device applications.
The study also reveals that the same applications developer, are more often downloaded from the App Store from Apple's most direct competitor, Android Market. Good news then for the Cupertino, since quadrupled in revenue to the store for Android.

Finally, it is noteworthy that the catalog of the App Store for iPhone applications is much broader than its competitors by having more than 400,000 applications, of which 80,000 are games. Next comes the Android store with nearly 300,000 applications and, thirdly, re-position the App Store with nearly 100,000 applications for the iPad.
In short, a very positive year for Apple, which has only to announce record in its financial results.
