The technology firm Applied Materials today introduced its latest achievement. This is a new way of structuring the flash memory so that you can add more capacity in the same space.
If this technology gets to the stage of mass production in a few years we will see devices that multiplied several times their capacity, without increasing the consumption or space.
In particular, we can imagine an iPhone or an iPhone with 1 TB capacity. This would end the debate about which model to buy, as all models have a capacity more than sufficient.
In a press release, the company claims to have been able to include up to 64 layers of NAND memory cells in order to increase the bit density per cubic millimeter to an unprecedented amount.
Technology have agreed to call Avatar, and is based on the idea of recording a three-dimensional architecture, playing with silicon, to fit more information in less space.
What do you think? Will we see as our devices increase in capacity, or else the cloud storage and streaming will never get to much?
