As we all know already, Apple last week unveiled the new version of IOS, IOS 6 . And although not as large as an update of its predecessor, iOS 6 includes many new features.
We have already spoken iPadizate of some of the new features included , but we wanted to make a final list with the most significant new features. Some of them know that will be specific to certain devices, so best to check compatibility.
All new features of IOS 6
Phone (iPhone)
The phone application receives a slight upgrade in IOS 6, with a new look and the inclusion of the possibility of declining phone calls, respond with a predefined text message or custom and set a reminder callback.
In iOS 6 the large social network is fully integrated into the system like Twitter did in the previous version. Thus, we see:
- Uploading Photos: Users can post photos on social networking application directly from the "Photos".
- Update Status: Users can update your Facebook status from the notification center.
- "Like": Now we can mark "like" directly in applications, books and even in the iTunes Store.
Facetime
The Apple video call application will receive in IOS June 2 news awaited by all:
- FaceTime over 3G: Implemented the ability to use FaceTime 3G network and Wi-Fi not only as at present.
- Uniform and ID number of Apple: From 6 are unified IOS Apple ID and phone number so we can make FaceTime calls with either.
Siri
The voice assistant Apple was one of the great protagonists of the Keynote and receive a major upgrade in IOS 6, which can answer questions on new topics such as:
- Hotels: Siri now can search for restaurants based on criteria such as price, availability of terrace, location or cuisine. We also can display customer feedback and even make reservations using the OpenTable service.
- Movies: With iOS 6 Siri wizard can find schedules, data and movie trailers as well as ratings and reviews of service Rotten Tomatoes.
- Sports: Siri can now say sports scores, fixture lists and team information Baseball, Basketball, Rugby, Hockey and Football.
- Launch applications: Users can now launch applications with just tell Siri.
- Siri for iPhone: From iOS 6 Siri also may use the iPad .
Maps
The novelty of IOS 6. The Maps application has been completely redesigned going to use own maps with new features:
- 3D Mode: With 3D technology from C3 Technologies, the Maps application will display 3D models of buildings, landmarks and monuments.
- Voice Prompts: Users can now listen to voice prompts for navigation.
- Bandwidth: With 6 Maps of IOS will traffic analysis in real time with reports of accidents, works, etc.. The application will calculate the best alternative route in light of these notifications.
Watch
The Clock application will also receive improvements:
- MP3 Alarm tones: In IOS 6 we use our songs in MP3 as alarm tone.
- New Application for iPhone: Finally we have a native application on the iPhone clock . It seems silly but some we missed.
Safari
Safari will get some interesting enhancements:
- Tabs on icloud: If you open a new tab in the browser on your desktop, it automatically opens in Safari IOS.
- Offline Reading: Apple has seen the success of applications like Read Me Later Instantpaper or has decided to implement and offline reading directly in Safari.
- Upload: Users can upload pictures and videos on sites directly from Safari.
- Full Screen: The iPhone and iPod Touch can now see the full screen websites.
Photos
No new product as such in the Photos application, but if we have the odd change:
- New "Share" menu: Integrating Facebook is logical that this menu change something. Now we can share photos on Facebook and other services directly from the application Photo.
- Share photos streaming: Now we can share photos more easily with other Apple devices and even via the web.
Passbook
Passbook is a new application including iOS 6 and with which we organize our cards, coupons, tickets or train tickets.
The Mail application will be another major changes will not, but if some new feature:
- Guest lists: We define VOP contacts whose emails will receive a dedicated inbox and it will be highlighted.
- Drag to update: As in the browser, now we can update the inbox was dragging down the application window.
- Attachments: With iPhone OS 6 will have the ability to attach photos and videos to emails without leaving the application Mail
App Store
The Apple app store will also receive a complete redesign and the iTunes music store and iBook books. Apple claims that the stores will be more appealing visually and to facilitate the search. Also no longer closes when you play "install" an application.
Adjustments
Apart from the applications, we will see some changes in the IOS Settings 6:
- "Do Not Disturb": New function that can turn off all notifications and alerts with a simple gesture. In addition you can select which contacts NOT want silence.
- Relocation Bluetooth: Bluetooth settings have been moved to the main tab of Settings for faster access.
- Alerts of government: The government may trigger alerts specific country or region.
- Privacy Settings: Users can now see that each application can access data and will be able to clear it.
Several
In addition to the above, we have other new features or changes that are worth highlighting:
- Change the color of the status bar.
- Independent Podcast Application.
- New icons Emoji.
- Label "new" applications.
- Streaming and downloading songs on iTunes Match.
- The "spiral" that comes when you turn off the computer screen is updated to the retina.
- Custom dictionary synchronization through icloud.
- New interface for the Music application.
