As you have found Apple has changed the settings IOS buttons making them round instead of rectangular shape more than they had before.
It seems easier for the eyes and the brain process that square circles, when you see a circle your eyes focus on what's inside, however when you look at a square focus your eyes on what is outside it, so these new buttons are (in theory) easier to see and process for all.
What do you think? Do you like the new buttons? Do you think this is the reason or merely cosmetic?
