Undoubtedly, what Apple has done today is what its thousands of shareholders had asked for some time: dividends. And so it was, according to the new policy of distancing Tim Cook and the ideology of Steve Jobs. But after dividends (a total of 45,000 million dollars) the company would be superfluous enough money to invest in a completely different industry.
Here are three things that Apple could have done with their money:
- Investing in improving working conditions in their Chinese factories. Although Foxconn is the head of their employees, Apple could have pressured the company to pay their workers more, or even could have invested in strengthening the security of the factories and improve the quality of life for employees.
- Buy other small companies (that have already done in the past with purchases of Chomp and C3 Technologies ) but this time for leisure. In iTunes you need a larger catalog stores in the international and should allow a monthly fee so we can see streaming video without limits. Should have bought a company like Netflix?
- Apple is known for its efforts in converting to renewable energy, but still has a big job ahead. The company could have invested some money in improving its infrastructure, with the objective of reducing pollution levels.
Give us your opinion. What do you think Apple should have done with the money?
