When a new Apple device comes to market, it tends to magnify the "failures" that can have the device. In the case of new IPAD and its overheating, it has been shown that it is not so much as stated in the beginning.
The guys at Wired have made a comparison chart of temperature acquired by the new iPhone models with five other tablets on the market.
This places the new iPad table below the BlackBerry Playbook and even the Kindle Fire.
Apple already indicated that heating the device was within normal parameters. Thus, although it is heated a little more than the iPad 2, does not reach the levels that affect other tablets of the competition.
It is normal due to the expectation generated by each device Apple and our high standards, it can exaggerate any little reason against the device.
