Starting on March 16, hundreds of thousands of users put their hands on the desired new iPad (or iPad 3 ). Its main novelty is the brand new and amazing Retina Display resolution four times higher than the iPad, and iPad 2 .
However, all is not gold that glitters. To bring applications that move so many pixels, we will have to suffer considerably increases the size of applications, especially those using images, video or textures.
The truth is, of course. Up the resolution to 2048 × 1536 pixels of had to have some bad side. Some apps may even five times its size, not counting that will occupy space in RAM after use.
As an example, let's talk about some apps that we all know that even many of us use daily. The increase in size they have experienced is to have it in mind.
- Pages, the text editor of choice for IOS, has increased from about 95 MB to 269 discrete MB.
- iMovie video editing app has gone from worrying about 90 MB 404 MB.
- Numbers, the spreadsheet creator has come up to 282.5 MB.
Most troubling is that even if you do not have the new iPhone and want to download the updates from now, you have to accept this increase in size. Indeed, even if you have an iPhone original, iPhone 2 or iPhone, the apps are universal to force you to download an application that supports the Retina Display, ie much heavier in terms of MB.
All this is bad news especially for the cheaper version of the new iPad, the 16 GB of storage capacity. It is probably the best selling, but from now many will think that the amount of apps you can install will be lowered over a few months ago.
