It seems that beta 2 of IOS 5 brings a change in the notifications, they are no longer lining up as a list from below the clock, but they now appear as a pop-up as they did before, and that pop-up grows as they appear new notifications.
To view the notification works just like before you click the icon and slide your finger as if you were unlocked.
Personally I liked before, I hope Apple will give us both options, but knowing it does not think so.
