The Patent and Trademark Office U.S. has surprised us today with a patent filed by Apple in September 2011. It is a touch-screen universal remote that we could use with televisions, stereos, computers and players video.
The goal is to simplify our Apple interactivity with devices around us:
"Every time a user purchases a new device, you must learn the dynamics of your remote control, which can make the experience very frustrating."
So, Apple has designed a controller that adapts to any computer, either by wifi or bluetooth. The touchscreen control display the same interface for all computers in our house, which would save us having to find the buttons on the remote controls, located in different places depending on which we use in each case. In this way, everything will be simplified to a single command always showing the same elements.
Apple is still struggling with remote controls. In fact, according to several sources suggest, the Apple TV would not include that element, and basically would give orders to the device using your voice (via Sirius) and our gestures.
