Apple patents the 3D object recognition

Apple gets a new patent this week, as shown in the specialized web Patently Apple . In this case involves a 2005 paper which describes a technology used by Apple to recognize 3D objects. Currently, there are already smartphones including facial recognition of its users in order to unlock the phone, for example.

What Apple intended with this patent is to improve the face recognition technology to make it more accurate and effective. Furthermore, this patent 3D object recognition can bring new uses that could be exploited by game developers, for example.

The leader behind this patent is Dr. Fredrik Kahl. Beside him worked other important Apple and Jan Eric Solem, head of facial recognition in the iPhone's camera.
