XLR8 is an application for iPhone and iPad allows us to "change" the sound of the engine of our car on the other. By default, XLR8 allows us to select the engine sound of the following vehicles:
- Classic V8 muscle car
- NASCAR engine
- Ford GT40
- Ferrari sports car
- Lamborghini Supercar
Using accelerometers, XLR8 detect when accelerated, braked or maintain speed. The GPS is also involved for best results so the iPhone is the device ideal for this application.
Finally, thanks to the customization options, you can adjust the behavior of sound (gear ratios, if we burn wheel and skid ...).
Keep in mind that for best results you need to plug the iPhone to the stereo in our vehicle or auxiliary cable or Bluetooth. If you are using only the speaker of the iPhone will still hear the ambient noise and the original engine of your car.

The purpose of this application may seem silly but the truth is that the car brands are now developing similar solutions (although much more sophisticated) to provide sound to your electric vehicle. Without going any further, Audi is testing its R8 e-tron .
