The game developer Epic Games, creator of the wonderful series Infinity Blade, could be in possession of one of the few production units of the highly anticipated iPhone 5.
Today we saw a page of the Epic Games Web site where they make a brief mention of the device. Could mean nothing, or it could mean everything.
If developers of Apple's elite are already analyzing their applications on the iPhone 5, the official presentation is sure to be in a few weeks, so the date of September 12 takes more strength than ever.
An ad on the page contains tips Epic Games development team at Infinity Blade, in which we can read that the latest game update has been tested in iOS 5 and iPhone 5. By clicking on the banner, just opens a preview of Infinity Blade on iTunes.
Clearly, it could be a mistake. Moreover, there are several details to suggest that is a old banner. The first is that the graphics get linked to the original Infinity Blade Infinity instead of Blade II. On the other hand, the banner promises a preview of Infinity Blade II (which launched in November last year) and a book called Infinity Blade: Awakening, an iBook Brandon Sanderson (published on October 4, 2011).
Another thing to consider is that Epic Games is one of the developers who do not usually show in their ads support new devices from Apple. Infinity Blade is what we might call a "system seller" as it is exclusive to the platform IOS.
With this in mind, it's no wonder that Epic Games will be among the elite selection of companies that have preferential treatment from Apple. For example, Epic showed a demo of Infinity Blade Dungeons in the presentation of the latest Apple iPad earlier this year. The game will launch this fall and is said to squeeze the most recent processors of new generations of iPhone and iPad.
Businessweek published on March 19, 2010, just before the launch of the first iPhone, which Apple had allowed a group of three elite developers test their software on the iPhone, then unpublished. Of course, Apple put extraordinary measures to protect their devices:
"The iPad testers due to launch on April 3, must agree to keep it isolated in a room with darkened windows, and can only see 4 people who have signed a Confidentiality of more than 10 pages which prohibits partners to disseminate information on the iPad. "
These units were immobilized and kept under lock and key.
"To ensure that the iPhone did not move, remained tied to a fixed object, the sources said they could see it. Apple sent the iPhone to potential partners not to send photographic evidence that they had met. "
The Wall Street Journal was one of the privileged to use the iPhone before anyone else. According to a statement from Rupert Murdoch in March 2010 at The Wall Street Journal:
"Apple plans to release a tablet, in fact, have been authorized to work in one that is locked away. The key is activated every night from Apple. "
As a rule, this elite group of developers can use the iPad unpublished immediately after its presentation and before the release.
Following the above logic, Apple should offer a select group of developers the opportunity to try the next iPhone, but only after the company formally announced the device as of September 12.
This would leave developers with only nine days to test their applications and games on the iPhone 5 , between the announcement on Sept. 12 and Sept. 21 launch.
And with games Existem incredibly complex, such as Infinity Blade, nine days is barely enough to find errors but not fix them. With this in mind, it would make more sense for Apple to allow developers to test some hardware at least two weeks prior to public availability.
So it could be that Apple, after all, do you have distributed few pre-production units between developers stronger.
