Apple denies the allegations of collusion by the U.S. Justice Department

A few days ago the Department of Justice United States has filed suit against Apple and other publishers to make a practice of alleged collusion ( link to Wikipedia ).

This report shows that Apple with some publishers have agreed to fix the price of books published in the iBookstore for so the prices are unbeatable by Amazon.

As expected, about this, Apple has already made a statement through his spokesman, Tom Naumayr, the blog All Things Digital saying the following:

The Justice Department's indictment against Apple is not true. The launch of the iBookstore in 2010 fostered innovation and competition by breaking the monopoly of large Amazon in the publishing industry. Since then, customers have benefited from digital books that are more interactive and attractive. As we allow developers to set prices in the App Store, publishers set prices in the iBookstore.

Immediately after the filing of the application, there are three publishers have signed agreements that it's not going to court, but Apple (as is usually normal) has not signed any. It is a company that defends its ideals (especially when they think they have reason and evidence to prove it) to the end and it shows in this way.

Anyway, it seems, according to experts, the U.S. Justice Department has a case that very little stands against Apple because at breakfast in a London hotel and meals in a restaurant in Manhattan in evidence Apple was not present.

On the other hand, the U.S. Supreme Court confirmed that the price agreements between competitors do not automatically violate antitrust law and that manufacturers set a minimum sale price is a policy allowed.

We will continue to pay attention to how they develop procedures to inform.
