Several French media groups have joined forces to pressure Apple to target the huge sales changing conditions in the country. The Cupertino company is about to launch the new IOS 5.0 Newsstand application that will allow us to subscribe to newspapers and magazines to read them from our iPod Touch, iPhones and iPads. However, for every sale made, the media group will be 70% and 30% Apple, as happens in the App Store today.
Some conditions have not liked anything in France. Hence the alliance of various media that are already putting pressure on Apple creating their own digital kiosks without having to go through the box of the Apple. In addition, other initiatives have emerged to offer subscription services directly through Safari and using HTML 5, which is not like anything to Apple.
The heads of major newspapers involved in the protest (Le Figaro, L'equipe ...) defend their position on giant like Facebook, Google and Apple, "which have more power today than a newspaper." Their profits are much higher and have control of publication.
A good move for Apple to give application developers and publishing what they deserve.
