Yesterday, Bud Tribble, Apple's vice president of software and those close to Steve Jobs, Apple represented in the Senate of the United States. Individual responsible for Google and Apple had been called to testify after learning that the phones made by both companies track their customers.
Apple maintained the same stance it has taken so far. According to Tribble, Apple does not track anyone or send private information to third parties "without the consent of the customer." He added that the phone collects only information on the nearest tower coverage in order to provide added functionality to the user when it uses geolocation services. "In any case, this private information is sent to Apple."
Finally, Tribble said that this problem has been fixed with the update that came out last week (IOS 4.3.3), where the tracking database is no longer synchronized with your computer.
