Do you think that the publications in print are destined to die to make way for digital format? To get an idea of what the future of this sector can have a look at the magazine sales in the App Store for iPad , which show a great difference in what we talk publication.
AdAge magazine has tracked some publications that are already in the App Store and has concluded that the magazines devoted to technology such as Wired were the first to have an application dedicated to iPad, are the most have achieved success on this platform. As an example, the latter has obtained 37% of sales compared to its print edition from July to September, although it is not at all surprising since normally adept at technology and science journals are usually holders of Apple tablet.
Moreover magazines like People and Glamour, which have debuted recently with IPAD versions, have sold only 1% of its sales in the printed version. At the moment it is difficult to know how they will operate this type of publication but may help to be created a special category for magazines and newspapers .
Personally I think the print is obsolete and increasingly, people will choose the digital format.
And you who do you think about it?
