Mefeedia has released the results of a new survey showing that 54% of videos encoded in H.264 format is available in HTML5, double the share that five months ago. This rapid increase is due in large part to boost the mobile industry and the lack of support they are receiving the Flash platform from Apple.

  • 54% of the H.264 encoded video is available as HTML5. Double that for 5 months.
  • Flash is still the dominant platform for desktop environments.
  • The mobile platform is driving the adoption of HTML5 video because it is the most common format for mobile (including iPhone, Android and the IPAD).
  • Publishers now offer the possibility of changing the playback platform based on the device from which users access.

Mefeedia this hill has more than 33,000 publishers in the media among which include sites like Hulu, CBS, ABC, Youtube or Vimeo.
