Advances in space technology have enabled a Swiss company developing a device called a "pulse" that can measure heart rate from a simple headset and an application for the iPhone.
"Push" works by sending an infrared signal through the tissues of the ear with a tiny photodiode registers the pulse and sends the information through the headphone wires to a receiver connected to the mobile. As a result we get a perfect monitoring of the individual heart rate.
Athletes who have tested the application have come out very satisfied with the results and although currently only able to measure heart rate in the future will offer many improvements.
