Flex is a Jailbreak app that allows users to delve into the code and create custom tweaks (called patches) on the fly, with little or no programming knowledge.
Normally when we find applications ambitious as this, something usually fails. Either the application looks amazing but its execution fails, or the application has a very bad design but is solid from the point of view of implementation. With Flex we found the exception that proves the rule. It is an application to Jailbreak with beautifully designed and extremely functional.
Flex: Make your own tweaks and changes to your applications easily taste
To be frank, not everyone agrees that end users should be able to exercise such power, especially those who have no idea about programming. Ultimately, this is a decision that you have to take yourself. You can use or not to use Flex.
Still, you have to be impressed to see that this idea has been executed with this level of precision. Check out the video and see for yourself.
Basically, Flex allows the user to change the values of existing code already present in device applications. Not possible to change things that do not exist. Here's an excerpt from the developer, John Coates, about:
"With Flex you can change the way applications behave. You are limited to what is already in you application, so do not think you can add to it something that does not exist. You basically change the rules, so if you want to hide something, remove a restriction or anything else, then Flex will give you the freedom to do so. You will not be able to make a tweak that adds a new icon to the Springboard, but if you remove the icon Newsstand. "
What you can do with Flex is to change the existing values. In the beta, Coates includes a tutorial that shows how to create a datetime tweak to the Messages application. Following instructions is very simple. In a few seconds you get a tweak that works and that activates the date and time of all messages in the application.
One of the amazing features of Flex in the Cloud option. With it you can upload or download tweaks tweaks created by other users, which makes Flex a potential source for Jailbreak tweaks as users will use the application.
Flex also has its limits. All you can do is alter the values that already exist in the various applications installed on your device. With this in mind, I think Flex is an interesting introduction for those who want to customize their iPhone.
Flex will have it available in Cydia next week at a price of $ 3.99.
