Undoubtedly, one of the keys to success of Apple is designing its stores. The California company, with former vice president of retail Ron Johnson as head, began to make a big difference with the first stores that opened to the public. Inside we find a minimalist design, glass entrances, few elements to highlight Apple products, long tables with test devices, descriptions of products on iPads and the famous Genius Bars.
Competing companies like Samsung and Microsoft are aware of the success that Apple has achieved through its quaint shops, and so we can find on their premises very similar elements. Even Samsung has become blatantly copying Apple opened a store in Sydney that includes "Genius" called "Samsung Smart Tutors". So it's no wonder that Apple tried to patent the design and layout of its stores.
And today, the Registrar of Patents and Trademarks of the United States has granted Apple registration, in which Steve Jobs also listed as one of its leaders. This means that the company can pursue rivals that copy their ideas.
