Not all make much use of the call on hold, but recently with the release of Facetime had to rearrange buttons (iPhone 4) so that the pause button (hold) is relegated to the background.
So if you like me to just had to make use of this quality, to pause a call on the iPhone 4 just for a few seconds holding down the mute button (mute) for the ongoing call is put on hold and able to attend or perform another.
