Technology companies and their support for same-sex marriage

Some of the largest technology companies (among others) support marriage between same sex. Is it a matter of justice?, Perhaps influencing their economic balance, or does something related to employee morale?.

A total of 278 companies (among which are brands like Apple, Google, Facebook, Amazon, Microsoft, Adobe, Cisco, eBay, Electronic Arts, Intel, Intuit, Oracle, Twitter and Zynga in the technology sector, and others like Citigroup, Johnson & Johnson, Goldman Sachs, Nike, CBS Corp., Starbucks and Disney) have agreed to send a letter to the Supreme Court of the United States. patents in the text are the reasons for the restrictions " bureaucratic "to same-sex marriages are hurting their business.

This is an important moment in the debate over same-sex marriage, as the Feb. 28 deadline for just the Supreme Court took into consideration statements like this for so deciding whether to reverse DOMA and Proposition 8 in California, which banning gay marriage in that state.

The signatory companies have unnecessary additional costs and bureaucracy absurd due to conflict between existing laws to be able to offer the same benefits to all employees.

The DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act) requires employees treat legally married in two different ways, depending on whether or not your partner is the same sex. This negatively affects the welfare and morale because of injustice as unequal tax treatment of opposite-sex couples face the same sex. This is something that companies are forced to make to avoid discrimination imposed by the DOMA, and definitely something that also affects their profits.

Some wonder if it is part of a marketing strategy to attract more young people, more inclined towards this kind of thinking. The decision of these companies positioning themselves in a topic "so controversial" long ago would have been risky, but thankfully things are changing and what matters now is whether the U.S. government will have a good reason to continue to discriminate against this group, maintaining a position of prejudice and intolerance for much longer.

  3. Technology-enabled solutions are intangible sales. People don't buy the machine; they buy what it enables. Average sales people tend to perceive read this article as a tangible, so they focus on the functionality. Exceptional sales people understand that customers only care about the results the technology enables, which is intangible. This difference in perception about the nature of technology is the fundamental factor in determining a sales person's success.

  4. Small businesses need to be in tune with the proper, updated technology. If they are using old, outdated 508 compliant or broken systems, then you are doing more harm than good and your business will suffer as a result.
