Apple has registered a new patent in which you can see a graphical interface for the iPod or contacts, this interface could be applied to future iOS 5.
Apple wants to renew the traditional view of the list to accommodate this "interactive grid" that could apply to many current menus of our devices. This new system would certainly be less confusing because clicking on a contact, we could access the SMS, email, call, FaceTime, etc.
