It seems that the ARM Cortex processor that uses the 3G iPhone is perfectly capable of encoding video at a resolution similar to 720p (not the same because the aspect ratio) so then you have a small tutorial that will help you select the HD video recording on your iPhone 3G.

Requirements:

  • Tested on 4.1 iOS
  • Have to Jailbreak the iPhone 3G.
  • Have OpenSSH installed.
  • Knowing the IP address of the iPhone to access your system files using Cyberduck (Mac) or WinSCP (Windows)
  • Have backed up your system.

Tutorial:

  1. Download and unzip the following file *. zip .

  3. Copy the file N88AP.plist in the following path:
  4. / System / Library / CoreServices / SpringBoard.app /

  5. Copy the remaining three files (CameraRoollValidador.plist, MediaValidator.plist and AVCapture.plist) in the following path:
  6. / System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Celestial.framework/N88 /

  7. Restart the iPhone 3G

If all goes well, you can record videos with a quality similar to the following example:

Updated: A web user iSpazio (SimonePSP) has created a file. Deb that avoids making all the previous steps. We caution that this is not the official version of the tweak. To download, you have to add the following repo in Cydia:
