Plex client for the Apple TV 2G

It seems that the 2G Apple TV scene continues, and while we await news on NitoTV, appeared surprised by a client for the Apple TV Plex 2G.

For those who do not know, Plex allows us to install a server on your Mac and stream your content from the iPhone, iPad and now Apple TV 2G, although in the latter, for now, and plan a limited "beta" .

The version available for Apple TV 2G, only allows streaming video, no music or pictures and making it work, we will have to install the server on the Mac

Once done, we will enable pugíns beta, opening the link in Safari and checking for updates from the tab "Plex Online" in the implementation of Plex on Mac

To install on the Apple TV, you can follow these instructions:

  1. Will be necessary to jailbreak the Apple TV, for that you will have to have followed this tutorial .
  2. Open a Terminal window on our Mac
  3. Type: ssh root@apple-tv.local
  4. We asked for the password, the default alpine (by typing nothing appear on screen, is normal.)
  5. Write: echo "deb http://apt.awkwardtv.org. /"> / Etc / apt / sources.list.d / awkwardtv.list
  6. Write: deb http://www.ambertation.de. / Downloads / PLEX / "> / etc / apt / sources.list.d / plex.list
  7. Type: apt-get update
  8. Type: apt-get install plex-client-plugin
  9. Type: killall Lowtide
  10. If after restarting the Apple TV does not appear NitoTV, disconnect it from the socket and plug it again.

Even we could not prove it, so I do not know if its operation is entirely correct or not. As soon as we update report on it.
