Tutorial: tethered jailbreak 5.1.1 with Redsn0w iOS (Mac and Windows)

In this tutorial we are going to explain how a tethered jailbreak 5.1.1 using Redsn0w 0.9.11b4 IOS.

Need:

Have iOS 5.1.1 installed.

Redsn0w 0.9.11b4:

• Mac
• Windows

Remember that it is a tethered jailbreak (tied) and need to restart each time with redsnow using the "just boot tethered right now" (including the first time or you will not run Cydia or Safari).

Supported devices:

• iPhone 4
• iPhone 3G
• iPod Touch 3G
• iPod Touch 4G
• iPad 1

4S NOT work on iPhone, iPad 2 or new iPad. In iPhone 3G with old bootrom is untethered. This tutorial is for both Windows and Mac, do not use if you need to release or preserve the baseband. For everything to work after jailbreak tethered need to do a restart at the end we explain how.

Tethered means you need to do a reboot the computer every time you turn the device off (or not start).

TUTORIAL:

Restore your iPhone from iTunes with iPhone OS 5.1.1

If not let you restore Opens TinyUmbrella and uncheck "Set Hosts to Cydia on Exit"
Open Redsn0w

if you use Windows run it as administrator and in compatibility mode with Windows XP SP2

Jailbreak and press Next:

Connect your iPhone to your computer and make sure it is off.

Follow the steps to put it in DFU

Power Press for two seconds

Without releasing Power also pressed for 10 seconds Home

Without letting loose Home Power and keep pressing Home for 15 seconds

Your iPhone will reboot

It takes a little longer than usual.

Redsn0w prepare some files

Select Install Cydia from the list of options

Your iPhone will reboot again and start jailbreak

Wait for lights, take a few minutes

HOW TO RESET tethered:

Connect your iPhone

Run Redsn0w

Click the "Extras"

Just click the option Boot

Follow the steps and your iPhone will restart with jailbreak.
