In absolute numbers, the iPad will peak at 424.9 million units sold in five years, but having more competition from Android tablets and Windows 8 as the years progress. As shown in the graph, the main beneficiary will be Google's operating system, to reach a quota of 40% within five years.

This is normal because when manufacturers as knowing what consumers want and what they can beat the new iPhone and its future successors, people will start to trust them as much as the Apple tablet.

According to analysts, competitors of the iPhone should be on the model pioneered by the Amazon Kindle Fire: a cheaper tablet, geared to a different audience to go slowly gaining the confidence of consumers. The key is also investing more in research, innovation and assembly to lower costs and offer new features.
