In July the fourth anniversary of the App Store

Nobody can deny that the App Store changed the mobile phone industry, back in 2008. Since July of that year, we all realized the potential that had the business model that Apple intended to satisfy users and developers.

Since then it has rained a lot, starting with more than 600,000 applications available in its catalog. However, we can say that is one element that has undergone few changes throughout the ecosystem IOS, perhaps it was well designed from the beginning.

In particular, recent data we have are dizzying, and come March 2012:

  • 25 billion downloads.
  • 600,000 applications for iPhone and iPod Touch.
  • 200,000 applications for iPhone .
  • An average of 8 new applications a day are posted.

The truth is that perhaps the greatest success of IOS has been the App Store. Without it, many of the buyers of Apple would have hesitated long before acquiring a terminal. The proof of this is that their competitors invest much effort and money to have a decent app store.

And thanks to its business model has enabled hundreds of companies are created from small individual developments to multinationals, with people who make their living developing applications for IOS.

Do you think we will see major changes in iOS 6 with respect to the App Store? Did we turn a face lift, or is an element that Apple should consider change? What would you change you?
