The HP company rise again this week with the title of best-selling manufacturer of computers around the world (40,000 units sold last quarter than Apple). Its directors are all out against his main rival, Apple, and this week, Meg Whitman, CEO of HP, has made some controversial statements regarding the Chinese factory workers from Apple.
In his words, collected by the newspaper El Pais :
"We want to better working conditions in China, where we will be a loyal companion."
A spear that is directly targeted at Apple, by the known problems in factories like Foxconn, which produces the iPhone and the iPad and in which several employees have taken their own life.
For Steve Hoffman, vice president of HP China "is no longer an emerging country, but a reality." Apparently, the California company and the Chinese government have collaborated in recent years to create research centers in the Asian giant.
In short, HP criticizes Apple stance towards China. For HP, China is already a power and should be treated as such, given to employees as part of their own business. Let's hope so and we have no news of cases of exploitation by companies contracted by HP.
