Setting the standard for a nano-SIM card for future smartphones has been one of open warfare between competitors in recent months. Nokia presented its own bet nano-SIM and Apple, in March, showed another small card borderless occupying less space inside the phone (which translates into the ability to add more internal components inside the phone to have more space. For example, one could introduce a larger battery).
Apple announced that its nano-SIM model would be open and did not charge other mobile manufacturers use. But Nokia was quick to criticize his model saying it could cause problems for customers when you insert the card into the tray. Apple bowed to pressure from Nokia and its nano-SIM modified by adding a few millimeters of the edge (such as shown in the picture).
This month, several companies around the world will vote to decide the standard to be adapted for smartphones.
