Things to Apple and Samsung are doing very well. Asymco today published a report which analyzes the smartphone market and which makes clear that Apple and Samsung continue to lead (accumulating nearly 99% market share), while other competitors like Nokia, HTC, LG, RIM, Motorola and Ericsson are the worst places in the study.
In total, during the first quarter of 2012, Apple added the 73% of profits in the mobile industry. This represents a decrease of 2% over the previous quarter, but still dominates. On the contrary, its most direct competitor, Samsung, sees its profits increased by 10%, accumulating 26% of the benefits of the smartphone market.
HTC takes third place with a paltry 1% of the total market. Somewhat certainly not come to the other companies analyzed in this study: Nokia, LG, RIM and Sony Ericsson.
