All Share Cast, Samsung's response against AirPlay Mirroring

We all know that Apple is on free setting their own standards, for better and for worse. Its ecosystem is so strong precisely because they are their rules and between them work well. The problem arises when you try to go against the world and your biggest competitor, Samsung, you face plant.

Leaving aside the fight between smartphones, hardware and operating systems, I focus on the standards. So far, the DLNA standard was more widespread among televisions and various devices to bring content to our television. Apple does not offer native support for DLNA and you have to pull third party applications to share content.

Then came Apple and took AirPlay, a protocol that works well and allows us to wirelessly send video, photos, and diverse content. The problem with AirPlay is that you need a transmitter and a receiver incorporating this protocol. That's when Apple goes and releases the Apple TV 2G, another heart device iPhone can capture what we sent for AirPlay and transmit it to our TV or stereo.

Until the arrival of 3G Apple TV, set-top box from Apple has been very limited (and remains). Just accept video formats (without jailbreak or weird stuff) and Spain do not have the services that there is in America. Overall, in the end the Apple TV device that ends up being a few people use every day but rather rare occasions (show the pictures of the holiday and little else). In this case, Samsung's strategy seems much more intelligent. I do not doubt that your next TV will be compatible with the All Share Cast protocol and the Korean brand has been responsible for providing kits to third parties necessary for this new media protocol is integrated into future products. People do not want intermediate devices, wants to get to your living room and watch on TV the pictures you just removed. It is the philosophy that Apple uses only this time, and in my humble opinion, Samsung has done much better.
