Battery life: 4.1 vs iOS iOS 4.2.1

The guys at iPhone Italy have developed an interesting comparison in which we see the autonomy of an iPhone 4 iOS IOS 4.1 and 4.2.1. The purpose of this test is to determine if the new firmware introduces improvements in battery management.

The results are inconclusive, in iOS 4.2.1 iPhone battery lasts longer 4:

Playing a video of one minute through Youtube and using WI-FI connectivity:

• iOS 4.1: reduction 100% to 97%
• iOS 4.2.1: reduction 100% to 98%

Downloading a 100 MB Video Podcast using WI-FI connectivity:

• iOS 4.1: reduction of 95% to 92%
• iOS 4.2.1: reduction of 95% to 93%

4 iPhone with the screen on for 60 minutes and without any application running:

• iOS 4.1: reduction of 90% to 81%
• iOS 4.2.1: reduction of 90 to 83%

5 Minutes Free:

• iOS 4.1: reduction of 75% to 71%
• iOS 4.2.1: reduction of 75% to 72%

Phone call 10 minutes:

• iOS 4.1: reduction of 60% to 54%
• iOS 4.2.1: reduction of 60% to 56%
